What is the key to bridal make-up?

The key to bridal make-up is making the skin look naturally beautiful, and remember the overall look is only as good as the skin preparation beforehand.

Start by cleansing and toning the skin

A top tip is to remove the cleanser with a damp muslin cloth; this will have a gentle exfoliating effect on the skin to reveal a brighter complexion. If the skin is dry, you may want to apply a moisturiser, otherwise a light cream such as Monu Radiance Balm provides a non greasy base.

It is now time to begin the flawless base.

Choose the correct foundation shade by applying a little to the jaw line, if it blends in, you have your match! Foundation should be applied using a foundation brush to ensure an even coverage. Any blemishes that continue to show through the foundation will need to be touched up with a creamy concealer. We recommend JvG’s Natural Concealer, it’s a light reflecting liquid perfect for minimising under eye circles.

Brush a little foundation onto the lips – this will ‘grab’ any colour applied to the lips. The eyelid should be prepped using a long lasting base, such as JvG’s silky Eyeshadow Base.

Once you are happy with your base, it is now time to apply a dusting of bronzer and apply highlighters and blushers to cleverly sculpt the face.

Subtle colours such as golds, creams, browns, lilacs and soft pinks make ideal eye shadow shades. When trialling make-up before the big day, it is advisable that the bride wears a top, the same colour as her wedding dress to ensure a good match.

Lip colour should be light, fresh and pretty, JvG’s Beautiful Glosses will achieve this affect. It’s a good idea to apply a nude lip liner pencil all over the lip area as a base for the gloss. Lip liners have great staying power, so even if the gloss begins to wear, your brides lips will still be full of colour.
