The Big Day

13 March 2012

Ideally giving yourself longer than 3 months will ensure your skin has adequate time to adjust to new ingredients and of course, allows you to experience even more lovely treatments!

What ever your skin type, there are products suited to everyone to achieve the desired results. At MONU Skincare we have some bridal must have products to keep the skin looking and feeling its best – let’s also not forget the Mother of the Bride and Bridesmaids too!

MONU Micro Exfoliant 100ml - This dual action exfoliator works by sloughing dead skin cells from the skins surface therefore enabling enhanced penetration of other products. The papaya enzymes within this formulation, will work at lightening and brightening and evening out skin tone and texture leaving the skin glowing with radiance and vitality. Recommended to be used 1-2 times per week.

MONU Beauty Balm 50ml – This incredible product provides instant radiance and a perfect boost to ‘wake up’ the complexion. This product smells divine due to the essential oils of neroil and sweet orange. Because of the milk proteins within the product, this induces a tightening action on the skin due to an invisible veil being formed over the skins surface, causing the contours of the face to lift and tighten. Applied over moisturiser in the morning.

MONU Illuminating primer SPF 15 50ml – This light reflective primer containing soft focus technology brightens the complexion and adds instant sheen and radiance whilst preventing sun damage and premature ageing. A product to be applied under makeup in the morning to perfectly prep and prime the skin for a flawless, airbrushed looking skin.

MONU Active Collagen Eye Patches 5 pairs – Suited to all skin types these are a must running up to the big day. Applied under the delicate eye area, these 99% pure collagen eye patches have instant hydrating and wrinkle smoothing results. They also deal with dehydration lines, tightness and restore comfort around the eye contour. Once applied, they can be left in place for 20 minutes and then simply removed; it is then advised to follow with the application of an eye product.

Renu Flash Relax Mask 100ml – Packed with vitamins and minerals such as marine magnesium, vitamin C, algae extract and siberian ginseng extract, this mask is a must for the bride, her mother and her bridesmaids. This mask works from the first application at lightening, brightening, relaxing fine lines and wrinkles, evening out skin tone, increases hydration and lifts and tones the skin – a face lift in a tube! A 10 minute application is all that is needed and this can be carried out up to twice a week.

Why use a Tinted Moisturiser?

18 August 2011

Bridging the gap between skincare and make-up are tinted moisturisers.

Master the basics and give your skin a golden glow with MONU Perfecting Tint SPF15.

Top tips to never look tired – Lighten dark circles with JVG Natural Concealer. Refresh those eyes by using the concealer under make-up along the browline & the bone that encircles the eyes. It's light reflective pigments will brighten the skin. Luminosity is the key to making skin look fresh & radiant.

A common side effect of having too much fun is dulled skin, coupled with dark circles or puffiness around the eyes. MONU Eye Cool Gel is perfect for soothing tired eyes after a night out.

Arched to Perfection

How to get the perfect shape

The biggest mistake people make is over plucking.  To find where your brow should be, take a pencil and hold it parallel to the side of your nose, where the pencil meets your brow is where your brow should begin.

To find the end of your brow, place the pencil diagonally from the nostril, following the outside edge of the eye toward the brow.  Where the inside of the pencil meets the brow is where your brow should end.

Eyebrows should have a gentle, sweeping arch; ideally this should sit above the iris.

Maintaining the perfect brow

After perfecting the shape of the brow, sparse brows sometimes need a little extra help to frame the face.  This can be achieved using JvG’s Eyebrow Powder and Shaper Kit or by simple freehand use of an eyebrow pencil.

JvG’s Shaper kit comes complete with a slanted brush and varying shape stencils, which can be held over the eyebrow and used as a guide to brush on the coloured powder, very simply creating the perfect brow!

When using a pencil, apply with short, feathered strokes from the inside of the brow, outwards.  Once you are happy with the application, carefully brush through the brows to soften the effect.

Brow Gel is a must for all, after simply plucking or shaping using a pencil or powder, the gel will set the brows keeping them in place all day.

Lesson 1: Under Eye Concealing and Brightening Dark Circles

JvG’s Natural Concealer will camouflage and brighten the under eye area.  This light reflecting, cream concealer glides onto the skin using a convenient brush applicator.  Dot the concealer around the eye from the bridge of the nose to the outside corner and working from the inside corner out, pat in with your ring finger.

Lesson 2: Camouflage High Colour in the Cheeks and Shadowy Areas around the Nose

Using JvG’s Cover Pencil collection, apply the green tinted stick to reddened cheeks, or the natural shade works perfectly to cover shadows around the corners of the nose.  Use directly from the pencil, apply the concealing stick to the area to be corrected and gently blend the colour into the skin with fingers or a brush to perfect the look.

Step 3: Don’t Hide Away – Banish your Blemish!

Using JvG’s Camouflage Magnets, you can achieve fantastic coverage and the ability to blend to any shade, these concealers won’t let anything show through!  Use a mixing spatula to achieve your desired shade, apply to any blemish, scar or birth mark using a clean fingertip or brush.  Blend into the skin until no obvious cover-up signs remain.

Step 4: Prolonged Perfection

It’s always a good idea to set any concealing product with a dusting of translucent powder.  This will not only help the product last longer on the skin, it will also absorb any excess oils, keeping shine at bay and helping you look fresher for longer!

What is the key to bridal makeup?

Start by cleansing and toning the skin

A top tip is to remove the cleanser with a damp muslin cloth; this will have a gentle exfoliating effect on the skin to reveal a brighter complexion. If the skin is dry, you may want to apply a moisturiser, otherwise a light cream such as Monu Radiance Balm provides a non greasy base.

It is now time to begin the flawless base.

Choose the correct foundation shade by applying a little to the jaw line, if it blends in, you have your match! Foundation should be applied using a foundation brush to ensure an even coverage. Any blemishes that continue to show through the foundation will need to be touched up with a creamy concealer. We recommend JvG’s Natural Concealer, it’s a light reflecting liquid perfect for minimising under eye circles.

Brush a little foundation onto the lips – this will ‘grab’ any colour applied to the lips. The eyelid should be prepped using a long lasting base, such as JvG’s silky Eyeshadow Base.

Once you are happy with your base, it is now time to apply a dusting of bronzer and apply highlighters and blushers to cleverly sculpt the face.

Subtle colours such as golds, creams, browns, lilacs and soft pinks make ideal eye shadow shades. When trialling make-up before the big day, it is advisable that the bride wears a top, the same colour as her wedding dress to ensure a good match.

Lip colour should be light, fresh and pretty, JvG’s Beautiful Glosses will achieve this affect. It’s a good idea to apply a nude lip liner pencil all over the lip area as a base for the gloss. Lip liners have great staying power, so even if the gloss begins to wear, your brides lips will still be full of colour.
